ABOUT THIS PROJECT

This house was a custom build for a particular buyer that never moved in. It stayed empty for almost a decade and was in terrible need of a refresh. Construction itself was limited to moving only one door to allow for a proper entryway. Every other surface received a cosmetic re-do.

We stained the cherry floors ebony to remove the red tint and set the stage for lighter colors throughout the home. We removed corbels and heavy trim, replaced dark granite counters, and installed new plumbing fixtures and lighting throughout. The kitchen got a new workflow by moving the refrigerator and removing a steam oven to make room for a microwave, and then we installed drawers for dishes and added glass to some upper cabinets to allow for display.

Impractical decisions by the previous almost-buyer, like a whirlpool tub in the jack-and-jill bath and floor-to-ceiling stone in the living room, were remedied one room at a time. The result is a stunning transformation of a dark and dated house into a fresh take on traditional interiors.
